ambassadors of doubt was formed in poole, dorset, on the south coast of england, when songwriter richard stockdill (keyboards) recruited former bandmates steve taylor (drums and vocals) and keith nuttall (guitars and production). they were joined by martin mckendrick (vocals and bass), completing the line-up in spring 2024. they immediately got to work on their debut album, which was completed in six months.
the album has been described as a combination of neo-prog, psychedelic rock, new wave and electronic mood music, but it still manages to defy direct comparison with well-known bands. their lyrics range from greek metaphors and political comment, to word salad, mental illness, and cinema.
unwilling to release the album into the wild without anyone’s knowledge, they decided to produce two music videos first. the plan was to use the videos as bait.
they released a single and an album in early 2025, and are now working on their second album.
